Alamo Lake Tournament
On November 17th, 2007 we will be
holding are final tournament of the 2007 season (this
will also be the first tournament of the 2008 season)
at Alamo Lake. We will be meeting in the group use
area, this is were you should locate you partner for
the day, Saturday morning of the tournament.
Tournament hours (I think) will be from safe-light to
3PM, the tournament director will have more
information on this at the draw.
At this time we will be doing the draw the
Wednesday (November 14th) before the tournament, the
pairing list should be on the web site and out to all
members be Thursday night (at the latest). Your
tournament entries must be in by Wednesday at 12:00
PM NOON at the latest (this is not part of the rules
(time frame) but would help in last minute entries),
If at all possible could you all be respond to me
will your name and partners name so as I can fill out
the paperwork for the draw by Tuesday night November
13th. If you are not paired at this time I have
attached a list of people that I know will be
attending, if you need help look at this list and
then contact me and or that person. Please
remember that if you are not paired for the drawing
your name will be pulled. This will also be the way
the Arizona B.A.S.S. Federation Nation will be doing
the draw for the 2008 season tournaments.
With this being the last tournament of the
2007 season and the first for 2008, I will need some
information. I would like to know if you are planning
to fish the 2008 season as a boater or a non-boater.
Remember what you have been fishing as this year will
only count for the 2007 season, you can change but I
need to know.
Regarding the points system, below is a copy
of the meeting minutes from February
A motion was made, seconded and passed to have 1
throw out tournament each year.
A motion was made, seconded and passed to change the
tie breaker for year end points to the total weight
of the angler’s top three qualifying tournaments.
Angler of the year will be decided by the total
number of points for the whole season with no throw
out.
The 2008 season will be based on the revised
by-laws and tournament rules (refer to the web site
for the update by-laws and tournament rules).
After the Alamo Tournament is completed we
will try to inform those people who made the state
team and who are the Angler and Co-Angler of the year
at the tournament, this might however take a few
minutes, and your patience would be greatly
appreciated, however this will not be final until all
information has been checked and double checked so
that there are not any mistakes.
If you have any questions please contact me by
either e-mail or phone - my number is 520-975-3405
Thank you,
Don Sebastian
November
14th Meeting Location Change
We will not be able to meet at Iron
Works Wednesday the 14th for our pre-Alamo
draw/monthly meeting as they have the room
booked. So we will be meeting upstairs at
Cabelas the 14th beginning at 7pm. All club
reps that can be there with their club pairings
please do so. If not, please use the on-line
registration at www.arizonabassnation .com.
Jeff F. or Don S. can take forms in the Tucson area
and Steve Peugh in the Prescott area as well.
This is the first tournament using
pre-registration. Hopefully everyone has been
communicating with their clubs and it goes
smoothly. I will be attending President
meeting’s and the Federation Nationals in Orlando,
departing Wednesday. If anyone needs me I will
have my work cell phone with me (928) 237-0798, or
contact Don Sebastian at
dlseabass@comcast.net.

Cabela's Sponsors Casting Kids Event Father's Day Weekend
The Arizona BASS Federation Nation, with help from Cabela's and federation members, conducted a Casting Kids event this past Father's Day weekend to promote the sport of bass fishing to youngsters. Over a hundred kids took part in the event and 8 qualifier from the 4 events over the weekend will go on to the state finals. (Take a look at the photo gallery for this event to see some kids in action. Update: See the video on the Youth page.)
The B.A.S.S. Casting Kids program is way for clubs, organizations or guardians to get children involved with the sport of fishing. Since its inception in 1991 there have been more than 1.9 million children that have participated in more than 17,600 events, and more than $3.1 million dollars has been awarded in cash, prizes and scholarships. Annually the national finalists are competing for their share of $21,000 in scholarships. Even though the competitive age starts at 7, it is never too early to get a child involved, as the photos shows, a happy, busy child is one that odds show will not get involved in drugs and gangs and will stay out of trouble. And in allot of cases become mentors
One of the most enjoyable parts of fishing is the mechanics and art of casting a bait with a rod and reel and Casting Kids puts a rod and reel into the hands of a youngster to test their casting skills. That is exactly what Casting Kids is all about and with the help of Federation Nation Members; youngsters had the opportunity to have some fun while competing for at shot at $21,000 scholarship money. The scholarship money is given to the Casting Kids national champions for their age category. The winners from the Cabela’s Casting Kids event will have the opportunity to compete in the state championship and the state champions will move on to the National Semi-finals to compete. The youngsters who win there move onto the National Championship and a shot at the scholarship money. (See photos of the 2006 Arizona Federation Nation state championship event.)
The Federation Nation would like to thank Cabela’s for their support of this event.
Many youngsters visiting Cabela’s over the Father’s Day weekend were given the opportunity to try to qualify for the Arizona Championship. Cabela’s provided and area for the event and setup a canopy with table and chairs and provided water for the parents and kids. A special thanks goes out to Renee Kroll the Cabela’s event coordinator for he help with this event.
