Avondale Angler is State Champ
28/04/09 08:53
| Jennifer Switalski of
Avondale is the Arizona Bassmasters
CastingKids state champion winner. This
was jennifers first year of compitition
in the Bassmaster Castingkids program.
She won her Castingkids division in the fall, and was asked to return and compete for the Arizona state title at cabela's in Glendale. Jennifer, 9, was tied at the end of the regulation casting tournament play. The three judges called for an immediate "winner takes all cast off," where each competitor was to cast from three different distances and the first to score the highest point was to be declared the winner. After a second tie, Jennifer won the compitition. She won an all-expenses-paid trip to represent Arizona in the Bassmaster National finals in Washington state in May. |

B.A.S.S. Federation Nation Jr. Bassmaster
Overview
The Arizona Jr. Bassmaster program provides opportunities for children 11-18 years of age to be mentored by and fish in a bass boat with some of Arizona's top anglers in friendly competition. To be eligible to compete in a Federation Jr. Bassmaster event, a young angler must first join a local club sponsored by one of the states adult clubs. An adult club in good standing may sponsor a Jr. club by filing the appropriate paperwork available at Bassmaster.com. The Jr. club must maintain a roster of no less than six members who have all been registered and paid the B.A.S.S. National annual due of $10. Each local clubs may conduct their own meetings, events, and activities. A club may allow anglers under the age of 11 to become a member of their club, but those members are not eligible to fish in any state level events. A club may choose to participate in local events, state events, or both. A new club may be formed at any time throughout the year, but to remain current and in good standing, dues must be paid by January 1st before competing during the next calendar year.
The State level Qualifier events currently consist of three tournaments per year with the final event being held in November. Any current member of a local club may compete at the state level and earn points as stated in the tournament rules section. The top point winner in the 11-14 and 15-18 year old divisions will be crowned the Arizona State Champions following the November tournament of the current season and will have earned the right to compete with the Arizona State adult team in the upcoming Western Divisional. At the Divisional, the youth will be competing for a chance to fish at the National event for scholaraship money and more. The anglers age of competition will be determined by how old they will be on the last day of November of the current fishing season.
The Arizona B.A.S.S. Federation Nation currently has one club sponsored by the Valley Bass Club of Phoenix but hopes to have more adult clubs sponsoring some in the near future. Team Arizona Jr. Bassmasters is a club that is open to youth from across the state of Arizona. The club is also sponsored by Bass Pro Shops. The club participates in the state level Qualifier Series as well as other Federation activities. For more information, or to become a member, contact us by email at youth@arizonabassnation.com
