I wanted to bring you up to speed on some important research and development here at Sure-Life. We have made SEVERAL changein our livewell formulas. The new Catch and Release formula which is currently on the market will transfer to Please Release Me this summer. The Catch and Release formula will totally change. The new formulation will utilize the sedative that is currently in Catch and Release to stimulate the immune response in fish. Through our research we have found that this all natural and SAFE sedative stimulates white blood cells call phagocytes to increase in the fishes mucus or slime coat. This is a MAJOR development because it causes the fishes own immune system to kick in to fight viruses, bacteria and fungus. Along with the natural sedative, the new formula will remove ammonia, chloramines and chlorine. The new formula contains a disinfectant that is used in aquaculture and in hospitals and is safe for fish and humans. The advantage of the disinfectant is that it KILLS zebra and other mussels at ALL stages of development. It also kills many viruses including the LMBV. The new formula will disinfect the water and halt bacteria, viruses and fungus, while giving the the immune system of the bass to aggressively fight these pathogens prior to release. We are so excited about this that we have a patent pending on the process. The new formula is also safe for food fish. The major differences between the two formulas is that Please Release Me will contain antibiotics and antifungals.

There are many times when fish are caught that they have obvious wounds or infection, have visable fungal infections ( black discoloration on scales which rub off or fungus which looks like cotton growing on the fish). These fish will need treatment for the infections before being released. The new formula for Catch and Release will not contain ANY antibotics, only disinfectants or sanatizers to destroy mussels and viruses.
It does contain Iodine which is currently approved by the FDA to reduce bacteria and fungus infections. We are currently working VERY closely with the Texas BASS Federation Nation and their CD. In fact, we attended their recent state championship. The new formula was used in test livewells at the championship, and the fish from those livewells were placed in a special tank for observation before release. Tim Cook is the Texas CD, and he is VERY, VERY dedicated to conservation and BASS. In fact he was awarded the BASS conservation director of year because of his hard work and dedication. Another program we have started is to work with the youth casting kids director here in Texas. We will be developing an educational program for teaching the youth proper techniques for landing, handling and caring for their bass. It is MUCH easier to teach them when they are young. The older kids will be taught hands on fizzing techniques for deep caught bass under the supervision of an adult. Maybe they can teach their parents!
