July 2007 Update

Hello all,

Before I get into some Federation Nation updates, I want to remind everyone once again that the monthly meeting is Tuesday (July 10th) at Iron Works which is one block north of Bell Rd. on 45th Ave.  The meeting begins at 7pm.  Unfortunately I may be late at best as I am coaching a little league all-star team in Scottsdale with a 5:30 start.  When we moved the meeting back a week due to the 4th, I knew this may be tough for me but Jeff Mayes will get the ball rolling.  Word has it that we may have another club joining the Nation at this meeting.

Your Federation Nation Board has been using the slow season to catch up on things and recently had a productive meeting in which we addressed many issues such as the October event, the 2008 schedule and much more.  We want to get the 2008 schedule out as soon as possible so you all can plan your tournament seasons.

We are moving the October Qualifier to the 20th in order to allow our 18 members traveling to the Bass Club World Championships to get back in time to fish with us.  No change in the lake as we will still be fishing at Pleasant.  Good luck to all who are participating in this prestigous event.

We now have a deposit on the 2007 Triton Boat sale where the right to purchase the 50% off MSRP boat was awarded to a $5000 bid.   The $5000 will go to the general fund which is now at a comfortable level for operating your Federation.  The current Treasurers Report that will be at Tuesdays meeting will not yet reflect this addition but we are doing very well.  Remember we had $0 in May of 2006.  Again I want to thank all of you who have worked so hard to raise these funds and that includes the anglers participating in our Qualifiers and our State Team who brought us back a nice check from Powell.

I have some tentative dates for the 2008 State Team Divisional and the Bass Club Divisional but remember these are not set in stone.  March 11-14 will likely be the Bass Club World Championship Divisional and expect less divisions this year.  In recent emails it appears they are moving to Divisions arranged similar to the State Team Divisionals.  And the lakes they are looking at include the Delta, Clear Lake, or Mead.  The Western Divisional for the State Team is likely to be held in Idaho May 11-16.  These dates are looking good but as information becomes rock solid, I will let you know.

We are also going to be looking into having an annual banquet.  We believe this would be an awesome way to get to know each other while raising money, and having a good time.  More to come in the future.

I also wanted to inform you that Joe Michels has stepped up to volunteer to run our website and has been hard at work giving it a new look.  Jeff Foley will continue to produce the newsletters.  Thanks Joe and a big thanks to Jeff Foley who has been pulling double duty all along.

In closing, I hope my team finishes the competition off by 10 in four innings so I can be at the meeting.  If not, I will see you all in August.
