June 2007 Federation Nation Update
Jun/09/07 08:28
Though the summer months tend to be a little slow for
us, I just wanted to update you all on some late news
and upcoming plans for your Federation Nation. I
guess it is safe to say we are no longer a new
organization hustling to put the needed funding in
the bank. Thanks to a lot of hard work by volunteers,
the 50% annual boat, the Qualifier tournaments,
raffles, and of course our State Team earnings, we
are ahead of where we projected. Your Federation
Nation Board members will be conducting some board
only meetings during the summer months where we will
be developing a budget and cleaning up some of the
loose ends from our first complete season as the
AZBFN. Things moved fast and the hours were long but
everything is leveling off now.
We have recently been busy getting commitments from our current sponsors as well as some new ones. The State Team members still have time to take advantage of your Alliance benefits with Lowrance and Motor Guide, and I have now worked something with Smith Optics. Contact me if you need anything from them as well. I know that several of you are awaiting bonus money and I have recently been advised the claims are in the right hands and the checks are coming.
We also currently have $1000 dedicated to a conservation effort. The money from BASS is not to be used for tournament equipment but for habitat, fish stocking, etc. It can be used as part of a bigger program or a new one. Bring any ideas to a monthly meeting.
Anyone looking to buy a new boat should also contact me as we are looking to sell the 50% off MSRP annual boat. You may basically purchase a boat you design for 5K over the 50% off MSRP price from Triton Boats. It must be a 20-21’ model.
We had a conflict come up with our fall schedule and we are addressing that at the first board meeting. We need to move one event, as we do not want to penalize our contenders traveling to the Bass Club World Championship. We are also going to get a 2008 schedule out at this time to be ahead of the game this year.
We were notified that Arizona recently finished 3rd in the Drive the Nation contest from BASS which shows we are still on the move. With growth we are going to be stepping up expectations from the club end, as we would like to see more clubs represented at the monthly meetings and Federation activities.
Speaking of activities, we have been asked by Cabelas to participate in their Father’s Day weekend activities by hosting four Casting Kids competitions. I would like to hear from any current State Team members who can make it Saturday (16th) or Sunday (17th) to aid in the competitions. We would love to have you in your Tournament jerseys as we expect to see a lot of kids. The competitions will be at 10 and 2 each day. This will be a good place to gain new adult and youth members as well. Contact Jeff Foley at (520) 227-1686 or myself at (928) 671-0061 if you can help us. It is our goal that 2-3 clubs step up to volunteer to take an event so we don’t have to run them all by ourselves.
I currently have a growing pile of quality merchandise we hope to use for raffle prizes at a not-so-distant Federation Nation banquet. Nothing is set in stone at this time. I welcome any ideas. I am looking for a banquet organizing committee and a leader. Anyone interested, please contact me asap. Other than that, we will keep you posted on any developments from our board meetings.
